Spain
Marbella & Costa del Sol
Mediterranean beaches, whitewashed old town, and Andalusian sun almost year-round.
About Marbella & Costa del Sol
Marbella is the polished heart of Spain's Costa del Sol — the stretch of Andalusian coast where the Mediterranean meets the Sierra Blanca mountains and the sun shines more than 300 days a year. It carries a glamorous reputation (the Puerto Banús marina is lined with superyachts and designer shops), but the town is more layered than the postcard: a genuinely charming whitewashed old town of orange-tree squares and tapas bars sits just behind the beachfront, and the surrounding hills hide golf resorts, spa retreats, and mountain villages.
The season here runs long. Summer is peak-everything, but the shoulder months of spring and autumn deliver warm, swimmable water and comfortable temperatures at gentler rates — and member pricing pulls them lower still, with a set of rates the big public booking sites don't display. Málaga's international airport is a straightforward 40 minutes east, making the whole coast easy to reach.
Our Travel Editor's Costa del Sol advice: split your time. Spend part of your trip on the beach and part in the old town or up in the hills. And consider the shoulder season — May, June, September, and October give you the coast at its best without the August crush.
